Asics Unveils the Gel-Cumulus 28: A Lightweight Running Companion
Japanese sportswear brand Asics is set to release the latest iteration of its beloved Gel-Cumulus series, the Gel-Cumulus 28, offering improved cushioning and performance for everyday runners.
Building on the success of its predecessor, the Gel-Cumulus 27, this new model introduces several enhancements. The key upgrade lies in the FF Blast Max foam setup, which Asics claims is one of its most energetic cushioning technologies. This innovation promises to provide a 'cloud-like' landing experience and responsive toe-offs, ensuring a comfortable and responsive stride.
To enhance durability, Asics has incorporated a new AHAR (Asics High Abrasion Rubber) Lo rubber in the heel, offering improved traction and longevity. The Gel-Cumulus 28 is also lighter than its predecessor, reducing the weight from 265 grams to 259 grams for men's size 9, making it an even more lightweight and responsive running shoe.
Despite these improvements, Asics has maintained the familiar traits that have made the Gel-Cumulus franchise a favorite among runners. The model features an 8 mm drop height, PureGel technology in the heel for added comfort, and Fluidride outsoles for smooth transitions and traction. These design choices ensure that the Gel-Cumulus 28 retains the smooth and reliable performance runners have come to expect from the series.
Asics has also been making waves with its Sportstyle offerings, showcasing a range of avant-garde designs and collaborations, such as the Gel-Kinetic SP derby-sneaker mash-up. These diverse product lines have contributed to the brand's growing popularity and recognition in the fashion and sports industries.
The Gel-Cumulus 28 will be available for purchase at the end of February, priced at $145 for both men's and women's sizes. Eight men's launch styles and nine women's colorways will be released on asics.com and select Asics retailers, providing runners with a wide range of options to suit their preferences and needs.
